1. Why do you practice yoga, what does it represent to you, and/or what impact does it have on your life?
I practice yoga for relaxation, focus and meditation, and to unwind. I have ADHD and yoga has allowed me the think time I need to remain focused. Yoga has greatly impacted my life. When I’m stressed or overwhelmed, a restorative class or stretching class gets me back to my positive self.
2. What's your favorite pose and why?
I have two favorite poses. The first one is Child’s Pose. I use it as a reset button during my practice. I know if I need a break from a pose, it is a great way to take a break before the next pose. The second, which probably should have been 1st, is Pigeon. I absolutely LOVE Pigeon Pose because it is a great hip opener. I have hip issues and Pigeon Pose seems to give my hips an amazing stretch.
3. What's your favorite thing about practicing at SoulPlay?
My favorite thing about SoulPlay is the people. The staff sets a welcoming tone and is always helpful and positive. I feel special because they have taken the time to know my name and always has a nice and pleasant attitude. The instructors are patient and very knowledgeable of their craft. The studio has a calming nature. I am a beginner and they have classes every day.
4. What is your biggest takeaway from your yoga practice?
My biggest “aha moment” happened when I realized that yoga is what you make it. If you need a break, take a Child’s Pose. If I need to modify a pose, then it’s okay. In yoga, you are not bound to the instructor. You go at your own pace and listen to your body.
