1. Why do you practice yoga?
I got into yoga after lots of knee pain from many years of running and playing soccer. I hadn't run in a while because of pain. Thanks to yoga though, I am back to running which clears my head and makes me so happy. Yoga and running are both stress relievers for me. I can tell in my body when I miss doing either one, and I feel it mentally as well. Yoga helps me relax and allows me to do my first love: running.
2. What's your favorite pose and why?
Pigeon. An athletic trainer I used to work with told me do that stretch because of my running but didn't tell me the name. It always felt good though. Once I started yoga at SoulPlay, I learned the name and over the years I have been able to get deeper into the pose and it feels so good on my hips.
3. What's your favorite thing about practicing at SoulPlay?
The community that is so welcoming. We are diverse in age, sex, gender, and ethnicity it makes for a better experience. I love seeing my SoulPlay family.
4. What is your biggest takeaway from yoga?
Just do you. If your body doesn't agree with someone, who cares.
5. If you could be a jelly bean flavor, which one & why?
Watermelon. But honestly, I’ve stayed away from jelly beans since I got sick from eating too many as a kid. That’s the only candy that’s ever happened with; I blame popcorn and pear flavor.
